Just like Phineas & Ferb sing every weekday morning … "There's 104 days of summer vacation / and school comes along just to end it..." This past weekend was a cram session! The summer has flown by and with it, so has our agenda. The past couple of weekends have been FANTASTIC! The twins now live in Redington Beach, Florida and they are lovin' every minute of it. It's been lazy beach days, body-surfing, seafood and Tampa Bay attractions ...
Since the boys have moved back (and me, preparing for a new job venture) it's been non-stop fun, with so much to do and so little time to do it we’ve had to pick and choose our events, as well as destinations. One thing that is great about being back in the tri-county area (Ryan made me write that) is the amount of friends and family we have to visit with, play with and enjoy. To start things off right, we spent a great day with my brother (and sister-in-law) and their two kids, Kailee and Zach. They always have a blast when they get together, mainly playing Wii, Guitar Hero and other electronic devices that may be lying around. After awhile my brother and I usually kick them outside to get some fresh air and sunshine. Also, can't forget this lil' tidbit of news! Many props to Michelle for always going above and beyond in cooking great meals for us (and PROPS to Ryan for actually eating). Lol.
One thing that we always try to do is keep Dylan involved with whatever we are planning to do, pushing him to keep pace, encouraging him to take an active role in activities and mobility. The next couple of things we did pushed him to the max! My brother and I decided to set up the big water inflatable which created a unique challenge for Dylan in that he would need to pull his way up to the slide by bending and moving his legs, arms and feet. This afforded him a consistent workout and allowed him to enjoy the water while working on balance, strength and stamina. His efforts always amaze and the rest of the kids always encourage him to try harder and harder. We are blessed to have such a wonderful support group when it comes to friends and family.
Up next, was the rest of the weekend! And boy, was it a blast! We started out by watching the worldwide premier of, yup, you guessed it … Camp Rock 2; the Final Jam! Since it's air-date, I have had the great pleasure of seeing it 8 times, and I'm looking forward to probably another 8 (since nana bought them the DVD combo-pack). On the way to school in the morning the daily soundtrack is run, and needless to say, I'm extremely versed in the entire production and the lyrics.
Saturday produced a day of internet games, Phineas & Ferb chain-reaction decisions and RC Jet flying, although as much fun as it was, don't let dad play because I got one jet stuck in an Oak tree. After that we spent more time hanging outside and enjoying the sunshine! Sunday brought a trip to the Congo River Putt-Putt Course & Gator Feeding, that's right, gator feeding (view the short clip, Mom, they didn't get hurt). Lol. The putt-putt course was awesome, cliffs, crashed sea planes, rivers, palm trees and caves. Ryan couldn't contain himself and Dylan played each hole by himself (with support assistance from me) swinging the club, maneuvering the stairs and picking his ball out of the hole. I do have to make mention that the manager on duty, Mark, was unbelievable! He helped me through the course by carrying Dylan's wheelchair up and down the holes while I focused on assisting Dylan through each hole. The support, help and upbeat attitude made for a great day!!
The day came to a close with homemade vanilla ice cream (with sprinkles) from Dairy Kurl, a Clearwater landmark. My pop used to take me there after Sunday afternoons' of play.
